RCEF Minutes – Regular Meeting – October 12, 2021

Call to Order 

*Meeting Called to order by President Mary Patterson, 6:40 p.m. at Ravenna Lumber Company.  

Roll Call 

*Also attending were trustees Mike Pierson, Justin Wilson, Adam Sheridan, Paul Borgman, Mary Arends and Scott McFarren;  absent: Jason Helsen, Hailey Mabrito, Denny Emery. 

*A check of the by-laws showed that we had the necessary 5 for a quorum.  

Approval of the Agenda 

*The agenda was unanimously approved on motion by Adam with support from Paul.  

Approval of Minutes  

*Minutes of the August 10, 2021 meeting were unanimously approved on motion by Adam with support from Mary Patterson.  Finance Report-No report.  

Correspondence-No correspondence.  

Old Business 

Taste of Ravenna-With the closure of Moss Ridge for rentals, the inclusion of RCEF in the Ravenna High School graduation  activities was presented at the last meeting by Justin Wilson and Ravenna Middle School Principal Frank Marietta.  *We reflected on the fact that the Taste of Ravenna was not established as a fund raising event. This led to discussion about being  involved in the graduation activities. The time between the graduates parade and the fireworks would be open for a program.  Presentation of the Distinguished Alumni and Memorial Alumni awards could happen in that time frame. The Ravenna High School  Athletic Hall of Fame is also considering being involved in a program in that time frame. We will continue discussion at the next  meeting.  

*We need to recognize our donors; page in the Independent has not happened in over a year. Mary will contact Jason to get the information to Mike.  

New Business 

Katie Hensley Resignation-Katie was unable to keep up with the time commitment for RCEF given her other commitments.  *Trustees unanimously agreed, on motion by Mike with support from Mary Arends, to ask Gina Link Schultz to be an RCEF trustee.  If she is unable, we will ask Melanie Goodno.  

Discussion- 

*Adam suggested setting up an information booth for graduation presenting information about what RCEF has done, possibly using  video. Justin suggested having it under the RHS entrance canopy. Mary Arends suggested giving out small bottles of water and  popcorn.  

*We need to start the search for our Distinguished Alumni and Memorial Alumni award winners for 2022. Mike will run something in the Independent.  

*Next Meeting-was set for Tuesday December 14, 6:30 p.m. at Ravenna Lumber Company.
