RCEF MINUTES – REGULAR MEETING –February 15, 2022 

Call to Order 

*Meeting called to order by President Mary Patterson, 6:00 p.m. at Ravenna Lumber Company.  

Roll Call 

*Also attending were trustees Mike Pierson, Justin Wilson, Adam Sheridan, Scott McFarren, Mary Arends, Hailey Mabrito, and  Gina Schulz; absent: Jason Helsen, Paul Borgman, Denny Emery  

Approval of the Agenda 

*The agenda was unanimously approved on motion by Adam with support from Scott.  

Approval of Minutes  

*Minutes of the January 11, 2022 meeting were unanimously approved on motion by Mary Patterson with support from Mary  Arends.  

Finance Report-Fund balance $331, 693.47 

Correspondence-No correspondence.  

Old Business 

Community Celebration-May 14 in conjunction with RHS graduation timeline was presented by Justin: 9 a.m. Kubasiak 5K; 2:30- 4:30 p.m. Beechnau Elementary Carnival; 3 p.m.-8th grade transition to RHS celebration in RMS cafeteria; 5 p.m. RHS graduates  parade; 6 p.m. RCEF luncheon in RMS cafeteria for graduates and award recipients; 7 p.m.-Bronk Brothers concert at Citizen’s  Field; 8 p.m. RCEF presentation of Distinguished Alumni and Memorial Alumni awards, RHS Sports Hall of Fame awards  Presentation; 9 p.m. Bronk Brothers Concert; 10 p.m. Fireworks.  

*Justin presented the cost estimates for a poster and mount for recognizing donors; mount $403, annual cost to re-print $148. Motion  by Mike, support Adam to allot up to $600 for the poster set up unanimously approved.  

New Business 

*Grant request from Jennifer Marsman of $500 for items supporting the Ravenna High School theater club were unanimously  approved on motion by Mike, support Gina. 

Distinguished Alumni Award-Robert Waller Jr. was unanimously selected on motion by Adam with support from Mary Arends Bob  graduated from RHS with the class of 2001, graduated #1 in his class in the Air Force ROTC program at Embry Riddle Aeronautics  University; graduated #1 in his International Joint Pilot training program at Shepherd Air Force Base; flew F-15’s to Korea, earned a  

master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering; was top in the class in the Air Force Test Pilot program and earned a 2nd masters  degree; has been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan; currently ranked lieutenant colonel.  

Memorial Alumni Award-Donald Nutt-unanimously selected on motion by Mary Arends, support Adam. Don was a successful  business man, county commissioner and school board president for 16 years. He was also part of the 3-man team that built Ravenna Bowl in 1963. 

Discussion- 

*Greg Helmer will be MC for the awards presentation May 14 with Adam presenting the RCEF awards.  *Mary will contact Tom Jensen to have him prepare some options for a website upgrade.  

*Mike will get plaques for the award recipients.
