Todd Herremans

Todd Herremans is a 2001 graduate of RHS and was a 4 sport standout earning All State honors in football and All Conference honors in basketball. Todd blossomed as a football player at Saginaw Valley State University, where he earned 1st-team Associated Press Little All America honors and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year accolades.

As a member of the SVSU football team, Herremans earned first-team Associated Press Little All-America honors and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year accolades. He was a member of the program from 2001-04.

Todd was on SVSU’s only undefeated season in history his junior year when they were ranked #1 in the nation. His 4 year record was 39-9, 2nd all time for a class. He played in the 2005 Cactus Bowl and the Las Vegas Senior Bowl. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League out of Saginaw Valley State University in 2005. He started 126 of the 135 games on the offensive line over his 11 seasons, spending 10 with the Philadelphia Eagles. Todd formed the Herremans Foundation in 2012 with a mission statement “To help where help is needed by providing resources for various charitable organizations, to effect positive change in our communities.”

Todd was recently elected as a member of the Muskegon Area Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2022.

Maynard Thompson

The Ravenna Community Educational Foundation is about improving the educational opportunities for the students in Ravenna Schools. The distinguished alumni award was established in 2011 to honor Ravenna High School graduates that have had outstanding careers that reflect well on RHS.

Maynard Thompson is such a graduate. He matriculated from RHS in 1955, earned bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees, then went on to an outstanding career in education including the presidency of Baker College in Cadillac for 7 years. He continues serving education as president and CEO of Maynard Thompson Educational Services LLC. Maynard has been respected by his peers at all levels as evidenced by the success he has had in education and also in the sports world. He would be a most fitting recipient of the first Distinguished Alumni Award from the RCEF.

Donald Nutt

Donald Nutt was a 1935 graduate of Ravenna High School and was a highly successful cattle dealer for several decades. He held an annual dairy cattle sale that drew buyers from all over the state. The Nutt Farm barn is still an iconic structure in Ravenna.

He served on the Ravenna Public Schools board of education for many years including 16 years as president and was on the county board of commissioners for 14 years.

He was a generous supporter of sports in the school and community. For decades he sponsored little league and pony league baseball teams, bowling teams, etc. For many years he provided food for an annual RHS athletic banquet held at St. Catherine’s hall plus hot chocolate and cookies for home and visiting teams after basketball teams.

In 1963, he partnered with Bets Linck and Paul Herman to build the Ravenna Bowl that was a boon to the community and the social center for recreation for decades.

He passed away in 2002.
